Use it or Lose it… A recovery journey through Pilates. To keep surgery at bay, visiting Nick the physiotherapist was the very first step in my recovery journey. Confidence in my body’s ability was at a low. I can honestly say I was quite scared I may “go backwards” if I pushed myself even just a little. Nick’s encouragement and re-assurance kept me going forward. The exercises were modified as my strength improved and boredom didn’t have time to creep in. Nick helped me gain confidence that my body was now strong enough now to join “Kara Pilates”. Kara and the other Pilate instructors are very committed and enthusiastic, just amazing really.

With 7 reformers in the room, the classes are small enough to allow for one-on-one tuition when needed. The instructors gently correct our movement and body positions, ensuring we get the very best out of each session. Exercises are modified to accommodate any limitations that individuals may have on the day. Classes are very welcoming and good fun, creating a great sense of community and belonging. The coffee catch-ups after class are just the icing on the cake. It does really feel like this is “my time”, just for me.

Pilates has continued to strengthen my body (and mind), increase my flexibility and improve my balance at an age where it is most needed. So very grateful to have joined this group.
